Interesting perspective on marketing in the current climate of "localness." I must hope that the local businesses I frequent if, for no other reason, than they are mom and pop local establishments are truly what they seem. I miss the local bookstore that is not a Border's or B&N - where does customer service and pride in workmanship enter in when everything is owned and run by huge, untouchable companies? Every community must support its business for so many reasons.
Thanks for the comment, Karen. I find the prospect of big national corporations masquerading as local businesses very troubling. This country was built on local businesses. There is no better example than Benjamin Franklin himself.
